Zuberfizz Creamy Root Beer - #94 - 8.5 out of 12 mugs

In 2002, Durango Soda Company, Inc. was established by Banden Zuber and Dan Aggeler. As roommates at Colorado State University, they brewed their own beverages. The company asserts that the primary ingredient utilized in their sodas is pure cane sugar. Notably, large corporations have discontinued using pure cane sugar in favor of high-fructose corn syrup to reduce costs. Zuberfizz Creamy Root Beer is meticulously handcrafted using fresh triple-filtered Rocky Mountain water.

Environmental sustainability is a paramount concern for Durango Soda Company, which exclusively utilizes glass bottles. The company adheres to environmentally friendly practices throughout its commercial production and packaging processes.

Ingredients:

Triple Filtered Carbonated Water, Pure Cane Sugar, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Caramel Color, Gum Arabic, Phosphoric Acid, Sodium Benzoate as a Preservative

What is Gum Arabic? This is the first time I have encountered this ingredient (at least I do not recall it previously).

Arabic Gum is primarily utilized as an emulsifier and stabilizer. It diminishes the surface tension between oil and water, facilitating their amalgamation and the formation of a stable emulsion. Furthermore, it maintains emulsion stability, preventing disintegration or separation over time. In certain beverages, gum arabic can also contribute to a smoother and creamier mouthfeel. Additionally, it helps stabilize the foam, preventing rapid dissipation.

Aroma and Flavor – 2.25 out of 3 mugs

The aroma is captivating. Upon initial sip, a prominent vanilla and caramel flavor is discernible. However, if you prefer a subtle mint note, this beverage may not suit your palate. While it possesses a strong flavor, adding a small quantity of water enhances its palatability.

Head – 1.5 out of 3 mugs

The head was small yet slowly dissipated.  There was some slight foam residue minutes after the pour.

Zip – 2 out of 3 mugs

Although the zip score is two, this is due to the harmonious blend of carbonation and flavors, resulting in a delightful taste experience. The beverage lacks the distinctive root and mint flavors that many individuals find appealing, which would contribute to a higher score in this category.

Post Consumption Impression – 2.25 out of 3 mugs

Given my preference for vanilla flavor, I find this root beer enjoyable and would consider drinking it again. While it is an enjoyable and straightforward beverage, it does not leave a lasting impression that would make me choose it as my first selection when several other options are available.

Would I recommend this at 8.5 out of 12 mugs (6.5 out of 9 mugs without the head)?

I highly recommend this brew if you are seeking a simple yet enjoyable beverage. The flavor score (excluding the head score) ranks this brew as #31 among the 94 brews reviewed to date.
