Ray and Christine Cunningham established this soda company approximately a decade ago in Homer, Illinois. Homer is a small town with a population of roughly 1,000, situated approximately 20 miles southwest of Champaign, Illinois. The Cunninghams initially intended to close their shop after a few years, but it was subsequently acquired by Kate and Rob Boyer.
According to a YouTube video, Kate Boyer holds a strong appreciation for small business owners and finds joy in residing in the small town of Homer. She was determined to preserve the business.
The Cunninghams have five children, ages 3 to 13. They firmly believe in imparting knowledge to their children about the origins and production of their food. They enrolled in a maple syrup-making class, dedicating countless hours to the process. Their efforts culminated in the creation of a delightful beverage.
Three years ago, they initiated a soda festival in Homer. The festival attracts approximately 10,000 attendees and offers over 100 beverages for sampling. I intend to attend this event in the future.
The most recent maple syrup soda I had consumed received a low rating, so I approach this new beverage with optimism and a sense of anticipation for potential disappointment.
Upon opening, a profound and opulent aroma emanated from the beverage. Notably, maple flavor was evident despite the absence of maple syrup as an ingredient. The initial sip was characterized by a pronounced sweetness, which, while enjoyable, exceeded my personal preference. The drink had a smooth texture and a robust blend of maple, vanilla, and caramel flavors. I have rated this beverage higher due to its potential appeal as a sweet root beer alternative.
The head was well-designed, featuring a mid-sized foam. While the foam may not be exceptionally durable, it could serve as an effective float.
The carbonation level was moderate, and the high sweetness could be overpowering for individuals who prefer a less sweet beverage.
I found this root beer to be either enjoyable or unappealing. Its distinctive combination made it a strong contender for my preference if I were seeking a particularly sweet root beer.
Please try this root beer, but be aware that it is exceptionally sweet and smooth. I am disappointed that I was unable to locate the nutritional information. Please provide the sodium and sugar content, as these factors may significantly impact the overall rating.
